Cleaning Moving Handrails (ALP System): Work Procedure
Protective preparation
A sheet is placed over the escalator landing plate for protection.
- A special protection device is placed around the handrail to prevent dirty cleaning water from dripping down.
Cleaning
The handrail surface is wiped using a towel that is soaked in a special detergent solution prepared in a bucket and then wrung out.
- The handrail is scrubbed clean with a nylon brush.
- The escalator is activated to expose another uncleaned part of the handrail.
- Steps 1 to 4 are repeated.
Detergent for cleaning handrails: ESW-ALPB5010
Coating
After checking that the handrail surface is dry, a resin coating agent (acrylic resin) is applied using a brush or towel.
After the first coat is dry, a second coat is applied.- After checking that the handrail surface is dry, the escalator is activated to expose another uncoated part of the handrail and the above operation is repeated.
- After drying, a fluororesin (non-membrane-forming) is applied.
- The escalator is activated to expose another uncoated part of the handrail and the above operation is repeated.
