Cleaning Moving Handrails (ALP System): Work Procedure

Protective preparation

  1. A sheet is placed over the escalator landing plate for protection.
  2. A special protection device is placed around the handrail to prevent dirty cleaning water from dripping down.

Cleaning

  1. The handrail surface is wiped using a towel that is soaked in a special detergent solution prepared in a bucket and then wrung out.
  2. The handrail is scrubbed clean with a nylon brush.
  3. The escalator is activated to expose another uncleaned part of the handrail.
  4. Steps 1 to 4 are repeated.

Detergent for cleaning handrails: ESW-ALPB5010

Coating

  1. After checking that the handrail surface is dry, a resin coating agent (acrylic resin) is applied using a brush or towel.
    After the first coat is dry, a second coat is applied.
  2. After checking that the handrail surface is dry, the escalator is activated to expose another uncoated part of the handrail and the above operation is repeated.
  3. After drying, a fluororesin (non-membrane-forming) is applied.
  4. The escalator is activated to expose another uncoated part of the handrail and the above operation is repeated.
